We attended a ghost hunt at Moundsville Penitentiary. They offer night tours as well as overnight ghost hunts. It is said that ghosts of many former prisoners haunt the prison.

West Virginia Penitentiary, aka Moundsville Penitentiary closed it's doors 1995. It's 5 x 7 cells at times held up to three prisoners. It is no wonder that ghosts haunt the prison. Ninety-four inmates were executed there. Eighty-five died by hanging. Nine died by electrocution. Many were killed by other inmates.

Could these victims be the ghosts that are said to haunt Moundsville Penitentiary today?

At one point during the guided tour part of our ghost hunt Brian saw a shadow while looking up at the prison cells. The hunt had not started so no one was supposed to be up there. This was reported to our guide. As far as we know nothing was found when the area was searched after the tour.

Our videos from the ghost hunt only turned up one unusual thing. Watch the upper right corner of the following video. The video was very dark and I have lightened it. Something appears on the wall as I get up and darts back as though it seen me. It is definitely not a flashlight beam. The file is large and may take several seconds to load.  

We used 2 digital recorders for capturing evps and 3 camcorders with audio. We have found only one evp among hours of recordings. The ghost hunt was over and we were standing outside talking to Mike. He is telling us about a tree that came through the floor in the training section. As he is speaking you hear a voice speaking over top of his. We think it says I want that tree or I want free.
