Online Poker Rooms Cheating You – I get a lot of emails and see a ton of allegations that the poker rooms must be cheating their players. So, are they cheating? slotcasinomachine.com

Let me try to answer this with a true story that recently took place in our poker club…

To maintain his privacy, I’ll just call our poker player Dale. Dale joined our Club in January, and it wasn’t long and we started seeing a bunch of the usual cheating accusations that claimed a player was marginal from making a hand, or aggressively defending a big hand that went against his better hand.

Dale took a very strong stand on behalf of his hand and revealed the culprit. A player he recognized as being relatively pro with a big hand (although marginal in our eyes). Dale squared off with this player and had a very interesting story to tell us.

He said that he was sitting to the left of this particular player when he picked up his hand. Dale was in the big blind, and just as he was about to check to the player in the big blind, he saw the player look down at his cards and shake his head “no”. It was as if he was trying to say to Dale, “I knew you had me beat!” Of course Dale wasn’t having any of this and he stood up and moved all in.

The player in the big blind handed him a monster. Actually a monster that a lot of people would not usually hand to an amateur player, but Dale recognized it as such. Dale put his hand on the table and raised the bet on the flop to $300. The player in the big blind then folded his hand.

As you might have guessed, Dale took down a pot worth well over $400 with this get rich quick scheme. He then got a call on the turn and went all in with $500 on the river. Since this was a get-rich quick poker lesson, Dale was certain he would still win the hand and he was right.

Unfortunately for Dale, the river card was an ace and a two giving the player in the big blind the flush draw and an unbeatable hand.

You can tell a lot by reading someone’s actions when they make a play. If they act confident, they are more likely to have a good hand. If they pause slightly, they may have a drawing hand and want to try it, but don’t want to scare anyone out of the hand. A period of hesitation followed by a period of chasing money from the pot to try and win it back with a raise is usually an indication of a player with a good hand. A period of hesitation followed by a raise usually indicates a player with a marginal hand.

A period of hesitation followed by two or more raises usually indicates a player with a good hand. As we mentioned earlier, raising may be used to steal the pot, but there are also several other signs which indicate a player with an excellent hand.

This was just an example of how the psychology of the game changes when you play in a face-to-face situation. You can tell a lot by reading your opponent if they have good hands when you are playing them, and help your hand by avoiding marginal situations where you could get beat.
